Primary features of the new cultural center include a glass-enclosed reception lobby, museum shop and café, art gallery, large studio and crafts workshop, office space, storage area, and event space.  All of the new Nelson Cultural Center and part of the existing Turnblad mansion are served by a new geothermal heating and cooling system.  Commissioning services were performed by HEI for the design, construction, acceptance and warranty phases.  The design phase work included focused design review during design development and construction document phases, developing commissioning plan and commissioning specifications.  Service during the construction phase included submittal reviews, site observations and verification of HVAC equipment and controls installation, observation of testing and balancing, and development of project specific verification tests of systems.  Acceptance and warranty phase tasks included functional performance testing of HVAC systems, facilitation of operator training, and final documentation.
