Schools for Energy Efficiency® (SEE) Program

Changing behavior to save energy and money

In 2002, Hallberg Engineering introduced a comprehensive, five-year program for K-12 schools to reduce overall operating costs through more efficient use of energy. The program, Schools for Energy Efficiency Program or SEE Program, provides a systemized plan that starts with the development of an energy usage goal and includes utility tracking, operational strategies, awareness campaigns and activities, a recognition program and ongoing training for those charged with guiding the program’s implementation. Savings are immediate and sustainable through our unique approach that both changes behavior while also increasing the efficiency of energy-consuming systems.

To date, the program has been implemented in more than 600 schools in 30 districts, with energy savings results ranging from 10-30% per district per year and nearly $14 million in utility cost avoidance.

SEE has also developed a strategic partnership with ENERGY STAR®, helping Minnesota school districts lead the nation with ENERGY STAR awards.
