United Hospital District - Adolescent Treatment Center of Winnebago, MN

A new 20,000 square foot building was constructed for the housing of teenagers with addiction problems. The facility consisted to 26 dorm-style rooms, kitchen, counselor staffing offices, and recreational space. The owner opted to follow the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® standards throughout the design and construction of the facility, resulting in the first LEED®-certified treatment center in the Nation. HEI was hired early in the design phase to complete the LEED® EAp1 and EAc3 commissioning processes. Those processes included design document review and comment, shop drawing review and comment, installation observations, verification testing of the mechanical and electrical systems, observation and review of the test and balance of the air and hydronic systems and review of the operator training.
