UMD MAIN PRODUCTION KITCHEN

THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH MAIN PRODUCTION KITCHEN is a full remodel of the University’s Residence Dining Center (RDC) Kitchen that was completed in January 2026. The upgraded kitchen features energy-efficient equipment and systems, HVAC systems supporting improved indoor air quality , and a new food pulping system, supporting more sustainable dining operations and an improved campus experience for students.  As this kitchen was a multi-year remodel, a major project phasing challenge was maintaining dining services during the construction work and temporary kitchen/food storage facilities along with planning a route for these temporary facilities to support the RDC functions were part of the project design.

Hallberg Engineering provided Electrical, Technology, and Electronic Safety and Security Design Services and partnered with TKDA, Inc. on this full remodel.
